showing interest in the welfare of others

THOMASTON — On Thursday, December 5, several students at Thomaston Grammar School were recognized for the attribute of compassion. Students were presented with a certificate at a school-wide assembly and will have lunch with the school principal later this month.

Compassion differs from other behaviors because the focus is on caring for others, according to the School, in a news release. This is called selflessness or not thinking or yourself, first. The children being given this award have a sensitivity to others’ feelings and problems. In many instances, they have shown interest in the welfare of others first, not themselves.

Dale Libby was also awarded the Principal’s Award. Dale is a student who quietly does the right thing each and every day without being asked or reminded to do so. Our school rules, Be Safe, Be Kind, and Try Your Best,
come naturally to him here at TGS. He is always ensuring that he and the others around him are safe. He speaks with kindness always and treats staff and his peers with kindness and respect. He works hard and perseveres through the most difficult of challenges.

Congratulations to all the TGS students that received awards this month!
