CAMDEN — Sparks could be seen flying above a chimney from across Camden Harbor Saturday night as Camden firefighters rushed to Bay View Landing, and Blaze Restaurant.

Alarms were sounding, and the creosote that had accumulated in the restaurant’s chimney was building into an active fire, according to Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley.

Bay View Landing, off of Bay View Street, is a closely built complex of wooden buildings on Camden Harbor. Blaze Restaurant uses a wood-fired oven for baking pizza.

“We used a water can fire extinguisher with about four gallons of water,” said Farley. “We advised them to have the chimney cleaned and inspected before using the pizza oven again.”

Two weeks ago, another fire broke at at Blaze Restaurant in the kitchen.

That was attributed to a slow, smoldering fire behind a shelf that had been improperly installed over a stove and a deep kitchen fryer.
