PORT CLYDE - Cherie Ann Pratt Yattaw, 69, returned to her heavenly home on October 2, 2018, to take her place among the angels.

Born in Rockland, August 25, 1949, Cherie was the daughter of Harold and Marguerite Stairs Pratt.  She graduated from Rockland High School in 1967.

On June 17, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Kip Yattaw.  They spent most of their lives and raised their three children in Port Clyde, Maine.

For 28 years until its closure, Cherie was employed at Outward Bound School.  For the last 11 years she served the community that she loved, which became her second family, at the St. George Town Office.  She is best known as the town ‘hugger’ and would not let anyone leave her presence without one.  She was an avid cook, canner, gardener, and a world class knitter.

Cherie had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchild, she loved them more than anything, and enjoyed spoiling them.

Other than her parents, Cherie was predeceased by four siblings: Harold Pratt, Sr., Russell Pratt, Ruth Maxine Fields and Erlaine ‘Bette’ Wilson.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Kip, of Port Clyde; her children, Christopher Yattaw and his wife, Tori, of Warren; Quentin Yattaw and his companion, Joy Little, of Rockland; Josette Stone and her husband, Jason, of Cushing; four grandchildren, Taylor Yattaw, Olivia Stone, Jonas Stone, Halsey Yattaw; one great granddaughter, Emma Young Yattaw; a niece whom she considered a sister, Marguerite Wilson, and her husband Bruce, Hodsdon, of Port Clyde, as well as several other nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2018, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.

A service celebrating Cherie’s life, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Thomaston Baptist Church, 212 Main Street.  The Reverend Wayne Sawyer will officiate.  Interment will follow at South Parish Cemetery, Ridge Road in Tenants Harbor.
