Charles Brier Jr., obituary
WALDO — Charles E. Brier Jr., 70, of Waldo, died unexpectedly Feb. 2, 2014, at his residence. He was born July 16, 1943, in Brewer, the son of Charles Sr. and Alice (Socea) Brier.
Charles graduated from Crosby High School in 1961 and attended Husson College, where he later enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a radar man. He had many occupations throughout his life, lastly working for his father at Custom Spiral Stairs. Charles built a camp at Swan Lake with his father. He and his son, Jesse, spent a great amount of time together at the family camp, and it was one of his favorite things to do. His family will remember him as a loving father.
He was predeceased by his father, and his best friend, Roger McCarthy. Charles is survived by his mother, Alice Brier of Belfast; his companion, Rose Newton of Waldo; and his children, Jesse Newton of Kentucky and Juice Newton of Waldo; his siblings, Ralph Brier and his wife, Jan, of Orrington, Jane Scott and her husband, Gary, of Swanville, and Charlene Colwell and her husband, William, of New Sharon; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Olivia, Eli and Madyson. He will be greatly missed by his four dogs, Crazy, Brutzey, Bobby and Cally, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast.
