BALLSTON SPA, New York — Carole-Ann Annis passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in Ballston Spa, New York.

She and her husband moved to Ballston Spa, New York from Maine in 2008 to be near their sons and grandchildren. She and her husband lived in Rockport, Maine for 30 years prior. Her loved ones will miss her famous lobster rolls and clam dip, her lively stories, hearty laugh, her adventurous and determined spirit, and her endless care and support she provided for those in her life.

Carole-Ann was born in Rockland, Maine to William and Laura (Candage) Cummings on March 21, 1942. She graduated from Rockport High School in 1960. After graduation she went to Portland, Maine to attend the IBM Business School, graduating in 1961.

On October 14, 1961, she married John H. Annis, Jr., and together they traveled around the world for 20 years during his career in the United States Air Force. Her interest in flower arrangement and cooking brought her much delight and enjoyment throughout all the places that she and her husband traveled.

In 1988, she started her own business called POP&PAC in Camden, Maine. She had over 30 flavors of gourmet popcorn and established a shipping business with FED-EX and UPS. Over the years there was not much that she had not packed and shipped. As an active community member and social butterfly, the friendships she developed extended to many areas of the country. When she and her husband were living in Blenheim, New Zealand, she became involved in Wife’s Club activities, from being the social director to sponsoring a home for challenged adults. She also was asked to be on the local radio station reflecting life in America. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she always had a “bucket list” of things she wanted to accomplish including a hot air balloon ride and a white water rafting trip.

In 2002, she sold her business to have more time to travel and enjoy her grandchildren. She and her husband traveled to New Zealand, went on a cruise to Alaska, a trip across the country, and several trips to more dependent on those around her, yet she found lots of joy in cooking and helping in the kitchen, volunteering with her husband, and socializing with her family and friends. She remained a caring and supportive presence to all those in her life with cards, phone calls, visits, and baked treats.

Carole-Ann was the beloved wife of, and is survived by her husband, John H. Annis, Jr. She is also survived by her children John William Annis (wife Stacey), and Richard Edwin Annis (wife Cassie); her grandchildren Baylee Jane, Samuel Winslow, and Ethan Richard Annis; her sister, Dawn Crandall; and by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends around the world.

She was predeceased by her parents, and by her siblings Jaynee Whitaker and Richard Cummings.

At her request, her body will be donated to Anatomical Gift Program of the Albany Medical College, and she will be buried at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville, New York where her husband, John, will join her to rest together.

Her life will be celebrated in a private service. Donations can be made in honor of Carole-Ann Annis to The Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, and to Old Stone Church, 159 Stone Church Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
