Camden Planning Board to consider proposed outer harbor pier, business parking lot improvements
CAMDEN — Harbor Road property owners are asking the Camden Planning Board for site plan approval of a five-foot by 106-foot pier that would extend into the town’s outer harbor from their waterfront parcel.
The Planning Board convenes at 5 p.m., Dec. 16, via Zoom.
At the same meeting, the Planning Board will hear another request from Cranesport LLC, at 100 Mount Battie Street, to make changes to parking and site layout to provide better parking alternatives and access to overhead doors, the agenda said.
The facility is occupied by four business and nonprofit ventures.
“Note that this project is generally the same proposed layout that was approved by the Planning Board in 2019,” the Camden Planning Office said. “The Applicant did not construct the parking lot and site improvements before the approval expired. They are seeking reapproval of what was generally approved in 2019.”
Proposed pier
Property owners John Rixon and Mary Kelly, at 26 Harbor Road, hope to construct a 106-foot-long pier with an elevation of 15.9 feet at mean low water. A three-foot by 45-foot aluminum ramp would extend beyond the pier to a 12-foot by 20-foot float.
The pier would be built over two granite pile and two timber piles.
The purpose of the preapplication review process is to provide an opportunity for the developer to explain the proposed plan in a casual discussion with the Board. There is not an opportunity for Public Comment during this portion of the meeting.
