UNION — Brenda Jane Rackliff Llera, 64, died May 18, 2013, after a long illness, at Penobscot Nursing Home in Penobscot, where she resided since April. For the past seven years, she resided at Seven Tree Manor, where she greatly appreciated the friendship of her caregivers, Linda, Tina and Darren.

Jane was born in Rockland Jan. 24, 1949, the daughter of Alvin B. and Norma J. Ranquist Rackliff. Growing up in Spruce Head, she began school in the one room school house at Clark Island. She later attended St. George elementary and junior high school, before graduating from Georges Valley High School in 1968.

During her teen years, Jane worked summers at all the area fish processing plants; and after graduating, she continued on a more regular basis at those factories. She could often be seen driving to work in her little green Volkswagen.

Jan. 10, 1981, she married Peter J. Llera. The couple enjoyed many happy trips and times together. Peter died May 25, 1985.

More recently and until forced to retire due to illness, Jane worked at Little River Apparel in Belfast, making military uniforms.

She loved mackerel fishing and reading, and visiting family and friends was one of Jane's favorite things to do.

Other than her husband, Jane was predeceased by her father in 2012; a sister, Bonnie DeWolfe in 1995; and a special aunt, Marilyn R. Turner, just three weeks ago. She is survived by her mother; two sisters, Sandra E. "Bunny" Vose and her husband, Ronald, and Elaine "Dolly" Taylor and her husband, Stephen; three brothers, Dennis A. "Bub" Rackliff and his wife, Patricia, Bradley D. "Butch" Rackliff and his wife, Juliann, all of Spruce Head, and Lanny B. "Russ" Rackliff and his companion, Marilynne Reynolds, of Rockland; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at Shuman Cemetery on Route 220 in Waldoboro. Mr. Ronald Turner will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 163 Lancaster St., Portland, ME 04101.
