Bid to Feed Our Neighbors: Otter Shirt Auction launches in response to SNAP uncertainty
With federal SNAP benefits in limbo and local food insecurity rising, United Midcoast Charities (UMC) has launched an Otter Shirt Auction to raise funds for its Urgent Needs Grant pool, helping feed Midcoast families through the months ahead.
"A generous local Swiftie, deeply concerned about what’s happening in our community, reached out to UMC to donate one of the newly reissued otter tees — the same design that went viral after Taylor wore it and sparked millions in giving," said UMC. "These shirts sold out almost immediately and are nearly impossible to find now, making this a truly special chance to bring one home and make an impact right here in Midcoast Maine."
“Because no parent should have to wonder how to feed their kids next week,” said Eileen McGuigan, UMC Development and Communications coordinator. “Every bid helps provide real relief for families who are feeling the strain.”
The auction runs November 1–13, with all proceeds supporting local food programs through United Midcoast Charities’ Urgent Needs Grant pool. Start bidding here.
"Bid early, bid often, and turn compassion into action," said UMC.
