Belfast baseball swings past Mount View

THORNDIKE — The Belfast varsity baseball team hit the road to Thorndike on May 18 for an early Saturday morning contest against Mount View. 

By the end of the contest, Belfast had secured an 8-3 victory. 

With the win, Belfast improved its record to 7-5. 

With the loss, Mount View dropped to 2-10. 

Up next for Belfast will be a road contest against Oceanside on Monday, May 20 at 4 p.m.

Up next for Mount View is a road contest against Medomak Valley on Monday, May 20 at 4 p.m.

Belfast plated one run in the first inning, three in the fourth and four in the sixth. 

Mount View scored a run in the first frame and two in the third. 

Belfast recorded seven hits and committed four errors. 

Mount View had nine hits and two errors. 

Working the mound for Belfast were Brandon Cournoyer (five innings, two strikeouts) and Dakota Payson (two innings). 

Pitching for Mount View were Madeline Knowlton (four innings, two strikeouts) and Theo Dodge (three innings, four strikeouts). 

Among Belfast’s offensive contributors were Cournoyer (two hits), Tommy Walker (two RBIs) and Christopher Kelley (RBI). 

Among the offensive contributors for Mount View were Draedyn Furrow (two hits), Noah Jacobs (two hits) and Damien Doughty (two RBIs).
