TOPSHAM —Alice Elizabeth Smith, 93, was born July 6, 1926 at Potato Point, Marshfield, Maine, eldest daughter of George Kenneth Smith Sr. and A. Genevieve O'Donnell Smith.  She died Saturday, August 10, 2019 at home in Topsham.

Alice attended Machias schools and graduated from Bangor Maine School of Commerce, now Husson University.  She was Deputy Clerk of Courts for Washington County before her marriage to Bruce J. Kinney on October 1, 1948 in Machias. They lived in South Paris and Dixfield before moving to Rockland in 1953 when Bruce was named Superintendent of Schools. Alice supported Bruce's career and raised five children in Rockland.  They moved into The Highlands, Topsham in 2010, where she made lots of new friends.

In 1972 Alice was re-introduced to business as a Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics.  Her joy in creating win-win situations for women blossomed into a career as she pioneered sales and distribution of the product in Maine and Canada, mentoring women in her group, "Alice's Angels."

She retired after 23 years, having attained the designation Executive National Sales Director. After their retirements, Alice and Bruce enjoyed sixteen years traveling the lower 48 states in their motor home, as well as visiting Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean and taking European river cruises – three with their whole family. She cherished family gatherings at their cabin on Chickawaukie Pond.

Alice leaves five children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: Carol (Stephen) Harris of Rockland; Susan (Steven Boileau) Kinney of Mansfield, MA; Kathleen (Clifford) Cleaver of Bokeelia, FL and Rockland; Jo (Loy) Linscott of Rockland; and David (Michelle) Kinney of Lincolnville Center; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kelly) Hoffman, Jennifer Harris, Max Boileau Kinney, Jana (David) Turco, Kyle Richardson, Bruce (Melissa) Cleaver, Sarah Cleaver, Danielle Linscott, Isabella and Maren Kinney; great-grandchildren, William and James Turco, Adelaide and Winifred Hoffman.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Kathleen Ouellette and George K. Smith Jr.; and Bruce, her husband of 63 years.

The celebration of Alice's happy life will be held by family only, at Alice's request.
