2016 Festival of Art
BELFAST — The Festival of Art is produced by the Senior College at Belfast and features work by Maine artists 50 years of age and older. This year, there are 139 artists participating and the event takes place June 9 thru 12, at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast.
The 2016 Festival of Art Schedule:
Thursday, June 9, 6-8 p.m. — Opening night reception and first viewing with music by the Belfast Bay Fiddlers, light refreshments and wine bar. Free and open to the public.
Friday, June 10, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Exhibit is open to the public
Saturday, June 11, noon to 1 p.m. — Visitors will enjoy the beautiful sounds of harpist, Nancy Schroeder as they view the multiple media artwork. The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, June 11, at 1 p.m. — A presentation by the featured guest artist, John Whalley, American realist best known for his exquisitely detailed graphite drawings and still-life paintings.
Sunday, June 12, noon to 3 p.m. — Exhibit is open to the public.
This is a nonprofit endeavor, supported by Senior College volunteers and a modest fee from the exhibiting artists. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for new artists to show their work and encourage appreciation of our many talented Maine artists.
