CAMDEN – Every Labor Day weekend for 38 years, athletes have glided through the waters of Megunticook Lake before cycling, then running their way to the finish line.

Saturday, Sept. 1 was no exception. For the past two years the event has been known as the Megunticook Race Festival, organized by a new team of coordinators. The enthusiasm remains the same.

Individuals chose from two triathlon options, and a few others opted for a singular three-plus mile road race.

Roadways remained open during the event. And, as Scott Layton forewarned athletes, a yard sale was in progress at one already challenging Lincolnville intersection.

Kris Freeman, of Campton, New Hampshire, won the Individual Olympic event. Scott Layton of Rockport took second. Click here to see the full Olympic - Individual results.
