Oceanside West opens wrestling season with win
THOMASTON – The Oceanside wrestling team held its home opener Wednesday with visiting Troy Howard of Belfast pulling out a close match 42-39.
Oceanside won eight of the 16 weight classes (one double forfeit), six by pin fall and two by decision.
Here are the individual results with the Oceanside wrestlers listed first.
75 pounds - C. Fogerty beat Wyatt Staples by decision 6-0.
82 pounds - A. Fogerty beat Jared Hansen by decision 9-0.
89 pounds - B. Ripley pinned Patrick Curtis at 0:48.
96 pounds - M. Sawstell lost to Shane Alley by pin fall at 0:11.
103 pounds - Connor McGonagle pinned Brendan Burns at 1:11.
110 pounds - S. Sweet was pinned by Jacob Racioppi at 0:16.
117 pounds - S. Ripley pinned Tyler Stickney at 4:38.
124 pounds - D. Young lost by technical fall 16-1 to Jacob Waterman.
131 Pounds - A. McGlaulin pinned Jeremiah Mussy-Chaplin at 4:26.
138 pounds - T. Brooks was pinned by Gerard Coward at 3:23.
145 pounds - T. Sawyer pinned Konnor Hartford at 2:04
155 pounds - Double forfeit.
170 pounds - Oceanside forfeited to Travis Tran.
190 pounds - C. Christian pinned Caleb Hilt at 0:16.
210 pounds - Regan Billingsley was pinned at 0:26 by Simon Lacasse.
240 pounds - Ian Goff lost by major decision 12-0 to Edwin Johnson.

The Mariners will face off against Cony Feb. 23 at Cony High School with Cony, Mt. Ararat, Bucksport and Hampden.
