Maine State Police Troop D beat
AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity, Jan. 28-Feb. 3. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Jan. 24 (late report)
Sgt. Patrick Hood, troopers Breanne Petrini and Steve Morrell, Waldo Sheriff's Sgt. Dale Brown, Waldo County deputies Matt Curtis, Jim Porter and Warden Mark Merrifield responded to Unity for the report of a fight between two males in which firearms were involved. Mark Meierdirk, 39, was arrested and charged with domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence criminal threatening, criminal mischief and violating conditions of release.
Jan. 28
Trooper Evan Teel arrested Seth Caron, 25, of Brunswick, on a criminal warrant. Caron was arrested in Chelsea.
Trooper Greg Stevens and Recruit Erin Ball investigated a complaint of a possible violation of protection order.
Jan. 29
Trooper Stevens and Recruit Ball investigated a suicidal threat complaint.
Trooper Stevens and Recruit Ball investigated a complaint of a suspicious person in Windsor. Following investigation, it appears the person in question was a cable company representative.
Recruit Seth Allen and Trooper Christopher Rogers were dispatched to a report of a possible unattended death in Randolph.
Trooper Mark Ferreira stopped Raymond Taylor, 49, of Windsor on Hallowell Road in Chelsea for having an expired registration. Ferreira learned that Taylor's license was under suspension and that he had an active warrant out for his arrest. Taylor was arrested and taken to Kennebec County Jail.
Troopers Niles Krech and James Leonard stopped a vehicle on Route 27 in Wiscasset for a loud exhaust pipe. Michael Connors, 30, and Dustin Edwards, 26, were cited for not wearing their seat belts. Edwards was also summonsed for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trooper Benjamin Sweeney responded to Young's Lane in Burnham for a welfare check.
Trooper James Macdonald charged Jessica Wellman, 28, with operating after suspension Dec. 6, 2012, and two counts of failure to give correct name and date of birth Dec. 6, 2012, and Jan. 29, 2013, as well as issued another speeding ticket for Dec. 6, 2012. As part of the investigation, Roger Bower, 36, was summonsed for hindering apprehension and violation of conditions of release.
Jan. 30
Trooper Macdonald was dispatched to 1 Caswell Road in Windsor for a domestic incident. Ethan Hurley, 21, was arrested for domestic violence assault.
Troopers Krech and Leonard did a bail check at the residence of Michael Connors, 30, in Wiscasset. Narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located at Connors' residence and charges are pending.
Trooper Shawn Porter stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 7 in Jackson. Passengers Kerston Lane, 36, and his brother, Daniel Lane, 37, had active warrants for their arrest. In addition to the warrant arrests, Kerston was charged with possession of schedule W drugs.
Trooper Corey Smith arrested Danielle Seekins, 24, of Searsport, for violating conditions of release and operating under the influence.
Troopers Scott Quintero and James Leonard responded to South Belfast Road in Windsor for the report of an assault.
Trooper Stephen Morrell charged Adam Jones, 28, with displaying a fictitious inspection sticker and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.
Jan. 31
Trooper Morrell stopped Jeremy Blazon, 28, for speeding. Investigation found Blazon to be in possession of a useable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was summoned for both offenses.
Trooper Teel summonsed Terry Shorey, 52, of Unity for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
Trooper Ferreira charged Tricia Berry, 37, of Augusta for failing to give correct name, address and date of birth during a Jan. 2 traffic stop.
Trooper Bethany Robinson and Recruit Thomas Bureau contacted a complainant about a mail fraud complaint he had reported earlier. The complainant grew suspicious of a check he received in the mail and learned it was a bogus check.
Trooper Rogers stopped Ross Adams, 46, on Central Street in Randolph for failing to obey a traffic control device. Investigation revealed Adams had a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and transported to the Kennebec County Jail.
Trooper Rogers and Sgt. Hood stopped Heather Downs, 26, on Water Street in Randolph after observing her passenger not wearing his seat belt. She was summonsed for failing to give her correct name and date of birth, and operating with an expired license.
Feb. 1
Trooper Rogers stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-295 in Richmond. A passenger, Joshua Mcmillan, 18, was summonsed for possession of a useable amount of marijuana.
Trooper Robert Cejka stopped Timothy Goodrow, 20, for speeding on I-295 in West Gardiner. The investigation revealed he was in possession of a usable amount of marijuana and he was summonsed for the offense.
Trooper Elisha Fowlie and Recruit Desiree Wuthenow responded to a complaint of a gas drive-off at Irving in China. Fowlie and Wuthenow identified the vehicle and registered owner and the investigation continues.
Trooper Fowlie and Recruit Wuthenow responded to a complaint of a vehicle theft in China. The complainant stated that his Suburban was stolen from Diesel Dan's Garage in China where the vehicle was being stored. The investigation continues.
Trooper Porter pulled over a vehicle on Route 7 in Brooks for a traffic infraction. Porter smelled alcohol and questioned the occupants. David Martel, 55, and Steven Landry, 50, both of New Hampshire, had open containers of alcohol and were summonsed for the violation.
Trooper Quintero investigated a theft from Peaslee's store in Jefferson. A male and female were caught on camera removing an item from the store without paying. The investigation is ongoing.
Troopers Quintero and Northrup responded to a family fight at Hallowell Police Department. No assault was noted and the family was released.
Sgt. Hood and Trooper Stephen Morrell stopped a vehicle in Unity for failing to dim high beams. Subsequently the operator Jonathan Curit, 31, was summoned for operating after suspension.
Troopers Robinson and Fowlie, and recruits Bureau and Wuthenow conducted a visit at Palermo Elementary School to go over lockdown procedures. The officers also had the school conduct their first lockdown drill.
Trooper Robinson and Recruit Bureau were dispatched to China for a female adult that had possibly overdosed on prescribed medication.
Feb. 2
Trooper Robinson and Recruit Bureau responded to Pleasant View Drive in Unity for a report of criminal mischief.
Trooper Robinson and Recruit Bureau stopped a vehicle traveling on Village Road in Jackson for a vehicle defect. Investigation revealed that David Mclaughlin, 61, was operating after his license was suspended. Mclaughlin was summonsed for the offense.
Trooper Ferreira stopped Jeromy Barlow, 25, of Andover, for speeding on Route 27 in Pittston. Detecting the odor of alcohol form inside the vehicle, Barlow was asked to perform a field sobriety test. He was subsequently charged with operating under the influence.
Trooper Teel summonsed Christopher Young, 24, of Winterport, for criminal speed. Young was operating his vehicle 90 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 202 in Troy when the incident occurred.
Trooper Morrell stopped a vehicle for erratic operation in Palmyra. Kyle Lovely, 22, was subsequently placed under arrest for operating under the influence.
Troopers Donald Webber and Smith located and arrested Justin Henderson, 24, of Burnham, on three outstanding warrants.
Trooper Cejka stopped Eddie N. Heard, 38, for failure to stop at a stop sign on Main Street in Brunswick. It was learned that Heard's license was suspended and he was summonsed for the offense.
Feb. 3
Trooper Leonard and Sgt. Michael Field responded to a domestic assault complaint in West Gardiner. Lindsay Lewia, 33, was subsequently arrested on an outstanding warrant and for domestic assault. Several Klonopin were also discovered in Lewia's purse and she was issued a summons for the drugs.
Trooper Sweeney responded to Stockton Springs for a reported assault. Tyler Damon, 21, of Stockton Springs was charged with domestic violence assault, criminal mischief, and refusing to submit to arrest. Trooper Smith and Searsport police assisted.
Trooper Smith responded to an unreported crash in Burnham. The occupants of the truck involved were observed fleeing the scene on foot and the crash remains under investigation.
Trooper Smith initiated a criminal mischief investigation in Winterport after a resident reported a person known to him maliciously damaging his vehicle. The suspect has been named and identified, and charges are pending.
