Lincolnville police beat: Stolen stakes, erratic vehicle, accidents and dog bites
LINCOLNVILLE — Animal Control Officer/Chief Ron Young reports 178 dogs remain unlicensed in Lincolnville. As of Feb 1, a state-mandated fee of $25 per dog will be imposed in addition to the license fee, and dog owners may be subject to a court summons. Register dogs at the town office or notify office staff if a dog is no longer living so it may be removed from the records. Current rabies vaccination documentation, if not already on file, must be presented at time of licensing. An altered dog license is $6 and an unaltered dog license is $11. Dog licenses may also be renewed through the month of January on the town website at www.town.lincolnville.me.us
Lincolnville Police reported the following activity for the period Dec. 21 to Jan. 12. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Dec. 21
Chief Ron Young conducted an agency assist to Belfast Police Department on Harbor Drive in reference to locating a subject. No contact was made.
He also responded to:
A public assist complaint on Heal Road of a person who had locked themselves out of a vehicle.
A public assist complaint on Youngtown Road in dropping off a care package.
An alarm activation on Harbor Drive. Young determined the alarm was unfounded and had been activated by the strong wind. The caretaker was advised.
Dec. 26
Chief Young conducted a radar detail on Main Street. No violations reported.
He issued a citation to Tracy Herrick, 48, Lincolnville for an expired inspection sticker (more than 300 days) on Belfast Road.
Dec. 27
Chief Young responded to a complaint of suspicious activity on Belfast Road. The complaint remains under investigation.
He also responded to:
An accident on Hope Road. A plow truck had been stuck in the roadway due to snow causing a traffic hazard; the truck was freed and moved without incident.
A reported juvenile complaint of an assault on Greenacre Road. The juvenile was taken to Penobscot Bay Medical center by family members for evaluation.
An alarm activation complaint from a Youngs Neck Road residence. The complaint was cancelled by the security company prior to Young's arrival.
Dec. 28
Young responded to a reported dog bite complaint on Sand Hill Road. Young was out of location and a 10-day quarantine notice was served to Danielle Pendleton, 24, with a listed Camden address, by Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Arthur Smith. Follow up was conducted by Young regarding the dog bite on Jan. 2.
Dec. 31
Young responded to a complaint of suspicious activity on Belfast Road. A report of trespass was taken from a homeowner and the complaint remains under investigation.
Jan. 2
Young responded to a reported traffic hazard complaint on Atlantic Highway. A plow truck winging snow from the roadway had become stuck. Traffic was diverted by Young until a tow truck arrived and removed the plow truck from the banking.
Jan. 3
Young received a complaint of a bad check. The person involved was notified and made remittance. No further action was taken.
Jan. 7
Young responded to Sutton Road for a reported public assist complaint of a disabled vehicle.
He also responded to a reported property damage accident on Youngtown Road. Vincent Albaldo, 47, of Lincolnville, was operating a 2003 Ford while backing from a driveway on Youngtown Road. Albaldo's vehicle struck the rear quarter panel of a 2006 Chevrolet, operated by Daniel Wellman, 38, of Lincolnville, who was traveling north on Youngtown Road. Albaldo had two passengers, ages nine and five in his vehicle. There were no injuries, according to the report.
Jan. 8
Young received a reported theft complaint of stakes stolen from the Fernalds Neck area. The complaint remains under investigation.
He responded to Youngtown Road for a reported welfare check request. The person was located and was fine.
Jan. 9
Young received a reported harassment complaint from an Orca Drive resident. The complaint, which involved unwanted telephone calls, remains under investigation.
He received a reported alarm activation from a Mullin's Bog residence and determined the complaint was unfounded. The alarm had been activated in error by a utility worker.
Jan. 10
Young received a reported alarm activation complaint from a residence on Narrows Road at Loon Point. The complaint was determined unfounded by the security company, which responded and found that a door had been blown open.
Jan. 12
Young is investigating a reported Internet fraud case.
Jan. 13
Young responded to the report of a female who ran out of gas and had been become acting erratically. Young determined the female to be having a mental crisis and she was transported to Penobscot Bay Medical Center for evaluation.
