WARREN — Michael A. Saunders, 45, died Sept. 1, 2016 at his home in Warren. He was born Oct. 1, 1970, to Miles and Elizabeth (O'Dell) Saunders.

He grew up in Warren and graduated from Medomak Valley High School, Class of 1989. Michael worked as a landscaper for Hoboken Gardens and Farley and Sons for more than 27 years.

Michael was a volunteer firefighter and first responder with the Warren Fire Department and Rockport Fire Department. He was a dedicated firefighter who was often the first person in and last person out of a fire.

He loved horticulture and gardening. He loved working with his grandparents splitting wood. He also enjoyed playing basketball. Michael always put others ahead of himself. He enjoyed working on cars with Vaughn Saunders.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his grandparents. Michael was raised by his grandparents as well as his aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Tamalyne Saunders of Warren; his daughters, Jennifer Saunders and Julie Saunders of Warren; and several extended family.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at Sunny View Post Cemetery, Route 235 in Warren, with the Rev. Tom Rawley officiating.
