Bernie Sanders declared preliminary caucus winner; an afternoon in photos as Camden and Rockport Dems gather
Like most municipalities across the state, young and old Democrats turned out in Camden and Rockport to throw their weight behind Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. Few were undecided, but the discourse was civil. At 8:30 p.m., March 6, the Maine Democrats released their preliminary results. With 86 percent of municipalities reporting, Senator Sanders is projected to win the Maine Democratic Party Caucuses, the Democrats reported.
A record number of more than 46,000 Democrats actively participated in more than 500 caucus meetings across the state. Maine’s state delegates were chosen in today’s caucuses, and will attend the Maine Democratic Party State Convention in May, where they will select the state’s 25 pledged delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this July.
March 5 and 6 were lively in town and city halls and opera houses throughout Maine, as the Republicans and Democrats conducted their presidential caucuses.
