Camden Hills falls to Winslow in final regular season game

ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills field hockey team hosted a very tough Winslow team today falling 5-2.
With the win, Winslow goes to 10-3-1 on the season while Camden Hills falls to 7-7-0 on the season.
This game was much closer than the score indicates. The two teams battled hard the entire game and everything except the score was very even across the board. The Black Raiders being able to finish more of their shots was the real difference.
Maddy Roy scored the first goal at 23:48 with an assist from Bethanie Lovely. Just a little over a minute later at 22:24 Ciera Poulin took a pass from Jessica Greeley for the 2-0 Winslow lead.
The Windjammers got on the scoreboard next at 8:36 when Hilary Merrifield shot a ball into the circle that Emily Daggett buried into the back of the net for the 2-1 Winslow lead.
Winslow finished out the scoring in the first half with two more goals. One at 7:23 unassisted from Roy and at 2:50 from Haley Ryder with an assist from Samantha Washburn.
The Black Raiders started the second half with a goal at 21:58 when Poulin scored her second goal with an assist from Greeley for the 5-1 Winslow lead.
Daggett scored her second goal at 17:51 for Camden on a beautiful carry from 30-yards out straight up the middle, moving to the right as she approached the goal, Daggett took a hard shot from just outside the goal mouth that blasted past the Winslow keeper for a goal. That would be the final goal of the game leaving Winslow with the 5-2 win.
