BELFAST — Daniel A. Matthews, 68, of Searsport, passed away June 10, 2015. Daniel was born in Norwood, Mass., on Feb. 26, 1947, son of Alva F. and Anne (Hamm) Matthews.

After high school, Daniel served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1966, obtaining the rank of E-3. He served on the U.S.S WASP aircraft carrier prior to the end of his enlistment. Daniel moved to Maine in 1984 and decided to stay. He loved old country western movies and belt buckles.

Daniel was predeceased by his parents; and his cat, Midnight. He leaves behind one daughter, Danielle Lentsch and her husband, Bryant, of Minnesota; his sister, Trudy Wilcox and her husband, Leonard, of Stockton Springs; three grandchildren, Adley, Kara and Emersyn Lentsch of Minnesota; his nephew, Bill Wilcox of Louisiana; and his niece, Tracey Wilcox of Stockton Springs.

At Daniel's request, there will be no services.

Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home.
