Mind your Camden parking habits: Police begin summer enforcement May 4

CAMDEN – Tourist season and increased traffic will be starting soon and Camden Police will begin enforcing the two-hour parking rule on Monday, May 4. Parking will be enforced Monday through Saturday by a traffic enforcement officer on the streets downtown.
Camden Police remind the public of the fines for parking violations and the locations of public parking lots with no time limits and those with two-hour time limits.
Fines for parking violations:
- Exceeding the time limit: $10
- Parking in “Permit Only” space: $30
- Parking on a sidewalk: $30
- Parking in “No Parking” areas: $30
- Parking too close to a fire hydrant: $30
- Parking left wheel to the curb: $30
- Parking illegally in a handicapped space: $200
Public parking lots with no time limits for parking:
- Knox Mill parking lot: located between Knowlton and Washington Street behind the Knox Mill.
- Washington Street parking lot: located on Washington Street next to the Public Safety Building. Please note that the two spaces next to the building are one-hour spaces for people conducting business with the Police or Fire Department.
- Camden Public Library parking lot: located next to the library and amphitheater on Atlantic Avenue. This lot is primarily for library visitors and is closed from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Parking areas with two-hour limits:
- Public Landing parking lot: next to the Harbor where the windjammers and daysail boats are located.
- On-street parking: unless posted otherwise, parking throughout the downtown is two-hour parking.
