Jessica Shaw, obituary
THOMASTON — Jessica J. Shaw, 37, succumbed to her illness May 19, 2014, with her loving family at her side, following an extended courageous battle, at Maine General Hospital in Waterville.
Born in Rockport on July 10, 1976, she was the daughter of Charles and Kristi Brown Shaw. As a young girl Jessica attended Waldoboro and Rockland schools, completing school in Ohio.
Jessica is remembered as a thoughtful person who was always thinking about others. She never forgot to send birthday cards and call on special occasions. She loved her beloved cat, Abby, and took great pleasure in spoiling her.
Her four children were her pride and joy and she was fiercely proud of them, sharing their accomplishments whenever she could. Her family said she was a “kid person” and loved being with kids. Her nieces and nephews and cousins held a special place in her heart.
Family was Jessica's number one priority and they are what kept her going. She looked forward to family gatherings and relished the time she was able to spend with them. She had a special relationship with her brother, whom she considered her best friend.
She enjoyed crafting, creating quilts with her mother and listening to music. She was a strong independent person with a wonderful personality and will be missed by all who knew her.
Predeceased by her father, Charles Shaw; and her paternal grandparents, Jess and Elsie Shaw; Jessica is survived by her mother, Kristi Shaw of Thomaston; her children, Madison, Dylan, Ethan and Sydney Wilson, all of Ohio; her brother, Freedom Shaw of Seattle, Wash.; her maternal grandmother, Edythe Willis of Owls Head; her maternal grandfather, William Brown and his wife, Carol, of Augusta; her aunts and uncles, Bill and Brenda Brown of Camden, Nicky and Raymond Weatherby of Warren, Russell and Muriel Brown of Rockland, Jon and Sue Brown of Girard, Pa., Elinor Brown of Petaluma, Ca., Tina and Kerry Ilvonen of Owls Head, and Karen Brown of Rockland; five nieces and nephews; and many cousins, all of whom she adored.
