Steven D. Rackliff, obituary
WALDOBORO — Steven D. Rackliff, age 64 of Waldoboro, Maine sadly passed away peacefully after a long illness at the Sussman hospice house in Rockport maine on April 29, 2025 with family by his side. He was born in Rockland, maine on January 4, 1961 to Judith Rackliff DeWalt.
Steve was a skilled carpenter and was self employed for many years, although he did work other jobs temporarily.
He enjoyed fishing, boating and camping, the NFL new England patriots team, music, playing bass in a band called hurting unit, concerts, auto repair, telling jokes, card and dice games, cornhole games, family and friends along with his love for his 2 dogs, Bruno and Lewie.
Steve is survived by, his partner of 18 years, whom he fondly called his wife, Ethel Crockett of Waldoboro, Maine; one sister, Suzanne Markey and her husband Craig of Chico, California; brothers Jerry Harjula of South Thomaston, Robert Dewalt and his wife Marie, of Paradise, California, Douglas DeWalt, of Brunswick, Maine, Dan DeWalt and his wife jennifer, of Rockland, Maine; daughter Taylour Daniello, Washington, Maine; a son, Aaron Jellison, of Lewiston, Maine; step son, Eugene Tardif and his wife Linda Tardif, of Jay, Maine; step daughter, Shelli Tardif, of Palmyra, Maine; five grandchildren; one aunt; three uncles; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Judith Rackliff DeWalt of Rockland, Maine; and a brother, Kenny DeWalt of Rockland, Maine.
One of his favorite saying when he was ill was, the good lord don't want me yet and the devil has a restraining order on me.
Some of Steve's family left him farewell words: suzie says "Love you big brother, rest easy. Rob says "no words can express how i feel, you fought the good fight. Dougie says Steve taught me a lot over the years, i'm gonna miss him.
A celebration of life will be held in Jefferson, Maine later this summer
