Wayne 'Butch' Farley, obituary
SEBAGO — Wayne “Butch” Farley, 85, passed away peacefully March 6, 2025, at Bridgton Hospital after an extended illness with his family by his side. Butch was born in Rockland, Maine, on September 20, 1939, son of the late Thomas Farley and Charlotte (Woodward) Farley.
After graduation from Rockport High School, Butch worked as an equipment installer for the telephone company. Following retirement, he managed Fox Island Transport for good friends Cy and Barb Davidson, who owned Carvers Harbor Market on Vinalhaven.
He married Ann MacFee, of Vinalhaven, in 1999 enjoying a fulfilling life with their blended families and many friends in Vinalhaven, Sebago and across the Midcoast region.
Butch excelled in baseball, basketball, was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Rockland Golf Club. He was a little league coach, umpire, referee and was deeply honored to be inducted into the Midcoast Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Along with his sons, family and friends he enjoyed hunting, fishing and many snowmobile trips.
Butch is predeceased by his brother David Farley, of Rockport, who passed away in February 2025.
Butch is survived by his wife, Ann Farley; his sons Scott Farley and wife Jillian, of Smyrna Mills, and Barry Farley of Lily Bay; brother Carlton and his wife, Val, of Rockport; sister-in-law Carol Farley, of Rockport; stepchildren Adam MacFee of Vinalhaven, Beth Herman, of Windham, and Bill MacFee, of Rockland.
Butch is also survived by his grandchildren Taylor Farley, Andrew, Daniel and Isaac Herman, Miranda MacFee, Racquelle Farley Haney and Meesha Luce as well as five great grandchildren.
A life celebration will be held on May 18, 2025, from 1 - 3 p.m., at Rockland Golf Club.
