ROCKLAND — Rockland Public Library now offers The Office for rent by the hour; reduced rates apply for daily and weekly rentals.

Furnished with funds from the Rockland Public Library Endowment Association, supplemented by the Maine State Library’s Remote Work through Libraries grant, The Office is an inviting and private space designed for remote work, small meetings, and collaborative work.

Among the amenities — a large monitor with cables to connect your laptop, both a reading lamp and task lighting, and a multi-function outlet tower, to plug in all your devices. The Library has also stocked it with some office supplies, including a stapler, scissors, and plenty of pens and pencils. The Office is on the lower level of the Library.

This is the first of many areas in the Library, being redesigned to encourage remote work through libraries, while maintaining space for reading and gathering.

“Stay tuned as these improvements will be rolling out over the next several months,” said RPL, in a news release.

Rockland Library will also be asking for library visitors to fill out some quick surveys, to gauge the use and usefulness of these improvements.
