FRIENDSHIP — Daniel R. Reed Jr (Little Danny), 44, of Friendship, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 11, 2023. He was born in Damariscotta on February 19, 1979, the son of Annette Reed and Daniel Reed Sr.

Danny grew up in Friendship with the ocean as his playground. He started young digging clams and working for friends and family on their lobster boats. At the age of 15, his dad helped him get his own lobster boat and his passion for lobstering started there. Danny loved tinkering and fixing things. He purchased his first truck at the age of 14. He was always bragging how he could take his engine out of his truck and put a new one in on the same day, with time to spare to make it to Flippers. He loved his family, but his truck was his life.

Anyone who knew Danny knew he loved a good party, with loud music and friends. He was well loved, and if you were his friend or family, there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for you. At the age of 17, Danny was in a tragic car accident with his cousin. His cousin did not survive the crash, and the accident left Danny paralyzed from the chest down with limited use of his arms. He didn’t let this stop him. He still drove his boat, beat most people arm wrestling, and could still hold a drink even without the use of his fingers. He had an endless bank of jokes, and wealth of knowledge to share. Danny’s presence will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Danny is predeceased by his grandparents, Philip and Evelyn Reed, and Donald and Emma Simmons; his father, Daniel Reed, Sr; his uncle Shawn Reed, and his cousin Shane Simmons.

He is survived by his mother, Annette Reed; his step-father, David Sandblom; his sister, Danielle Reed-Vosmus; his brother, Duston Reed; his nephews Ethan Reed, Rourke Sevon and Elton Vosmus; his nieces, Olivia Sevon and Mariah Young; and a long list of cousins, aunts, and uncles that he loved.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 2 p.m., at Harbor Cemetery in Friendship.
