Lady Knox Chapter honors DAR Good Citizens




At their March 19 meeting, Lady Knox Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored this year’s recipients of the DAR Good Citizens Award: Magnolia Vinci of the Watershed School in Camden and Isabel Danforth of the Midcoast School of Technology in Rockland with a certificate, wallet card, pin, and a check for $25.
Unable to attend but also honored as Good Citizens were Madeline Whytock, Oceanside High School, and Riley Anthony, Vinalhaven School.
Each year area schools select one student from their senior class to be the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens. The chosen student must have the qualifies of:
Dependability: truthfulness, loyalty, punctuality and being worthy of trust
Service: cooperation, courtesy, and contributing to the welfare of others
Leadership: personality, self-control, ability to assume responsibility, ability to inspire others, and a decision-maker
Patriotism: devotion to and support of one’s country, suppor.ng service members and veterans, working for causes. that make one’s community stronger, and apprecia.ng the cultural and historic importance of America’s unique population.
“Chapter Regent, Joanne Richards, of Thomaston, extended her congratulations and recognition to the parents and families for their role in raising Good Citizens students and thanked the area schools for their support and participation in the Good Citizens Program,” said Lady Knox, in a news release. “A special thank you was extended to Lady Knox Chapter Good Citizens Chair, Sally Ann Williamson, for all her work this past year with wishes for continued success with the program in the next.”
