Trio of wrestlers compete in New England regional tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A trio of Midcoast high school wrestlers traveled March 4-5 to Rhode Island to represent Maine at the New England regional wrestling tournament. 

The regional tournament was held at the Providence Career and Technical Academy in Providence, Rhode Island with wrestlers competing from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Representing the Maine and the Midcoast at the regional tournament were Gavin Ripley of Oceanside, Henry Pharris of Camden Hills and Julian Henderson of Camden Hills.

Below are how all the local wrestlers performed in the regional tournament.

120 pounds: Julian Henderson (Camden Hills) pinned Adam Landstein (Sharon of Massachusetts), pinned by Jacob Joyce (Ponaganset/Scituate of Rhode Island), defeated by majority decision Stone Farnsworth (Coventry of Rhode Island), pinned Phoenix Gardella (Norwalk of Connecticut) and lost to Dante Distefano (Waltham of Massachusetts). 

126 pounds: Gavin Ripley (Oceanside) lost to Kyle Levesque (Xavier of Connecticut), pinned Ben St. Laurent (North Providence of Rhode Island) and pinned by Jayden D’Ambrosio (Reading of Massachusetts). 

182 pounds: Henry Pharris (Camden Hills) lost to Timothy Goddard (Algonquin of Massachusetts) and pinned by Brandon D’Agostino (Central Catholic of Massachusetts).
