MRC introduces new roller skating coaches, new skating programs
ROCKPORT — The Midcoast Recreation Center is pleased to welcome two new roller-skating coaches to its organization, Amanda Fagan and Leila Percy, who have both been skating with the Rock Coast Roller Derby league for many years and have backgrounds in education.
With the addition of these women, MRC is happily able to offer two additional roller-skating classes as well.
They will instruct the organization’s Learn to Roller Skate program. This will be a six-week program that runs Monday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for youth ages 6 and up and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for those ages 15 and up.
Whether you’re new to roller skating or looking to get back into it after years away, this will be a great class to get you comfortable on roller skates, the MRC said in a news release. This program will start June 28, and costs $80 for the six weeks.
For those beyond the beginner level, MRC is offering the fitness skate program, taught by Leila Percy.
This class will run Sundays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and can either be registered for by signing up for the full eight week session ($10/class or $80 total) or by drop-in ($15/class). Please note, even drop-in’s must be pre-registered for by the Saturday before the class will run.
