SOUTH HOPE — Evelyn Elizabeth Everett Wellman Luce, 67, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, April 22, 2013, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born in Rockland Jan. 12, 1946, she was the daughter of Ralph and Geraldine Knowlton Everett. Raised in Owls Head, she was a 1964 graduate of Rockland High School.

Following high school, Evelyn served as a waitress for many area restaurants. Over her career, she made many friends and acquired quite a following of patrons who always requested her table.

More recently, Evelyn changed careers, beginning employment with the Moore Center out of New Hampshire in 1998. She was employed as a home healthcare provider for many years.

As a young woman, Evelyn loved to garden. She had a love of animals, and her children remembered, over the years she took in more animals than they could count.

On April 1, 2007, Evelyn married David Luce. Together they have made their home in South Hope.

She loved family gatherings and was known for her delicious fish chowder. She was an avid collector of figurines. She had a loving and caring spirit and was always worried about the well being of others.

Predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Ralph D. Everett Jr.; Evelyn is survived by her husband; her children, Shauna Quinn and her husband, Almon, of Rockland, David Wellman, Bradley Wellman and his fiancé, Nicole, and Christopher J. Wellman and his wife, Tara, all of Hope; her brother, Peter Everett and his wife, Karen, of Owls Head; her sister, Geri York and her husband, Charlie, of Warren; her grandchildren, Ashley Karl-Wellman, Alison Karl-Wellman, Matthew D. Weaver, Mara G. Wellman, Nolan C. Wellman, Samuel B. Wellman and Ziola C. Wellman; her great-grandchildren, Payton L. Leva and Daniel J. Preston; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Evelyn asked her children to leave a message to all her Facebook friends saying, "Gone to Heaven, see you when your time comes. Love, Evie".

A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held Tuesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. Interment will follow at Ash Point Cemetery in Owls Head. The Rev. Dr. Linwood Welch will officiate.
