Douglas P. McAvey, obituary
BROOKS — Douglas Paul McAvey, 64, a devoted, loving father and grandfather passed away Feb 11, 2020 at his home in Brooks.
He was born June 13, 1955 in Belfast, ME, the son of John R McAvey Sr. and Madeline (Partridge) McAvey.
Doug graduated the class of 1974 from Belfast Area High School.
He worked many years with phone companies until his retirement.
He liked to bass fish and dig cellars for old bottles with his best friend, Chris Muldoon of Brooks.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Heidi M. (McAvey) Doughty and her husband Darren Doughty; his grandchildren, Damien R Doughty and friend Maddy Knowlton, Kelsea D. Doughty and Destinee M. Doughty, all of Knox.
He is also survived by his mother, Madeline McAvey, of Belfast; and siblings John McAvey Jr. and wife Kathy of Brooks ME, Geneva McAvey and partner Bill Doucette of Swanville ME, and Linda Harvey and husband Keith of Palmyra ME; nine nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
Doug was predeceased by his father, John R. McAvey Sr.
There will be no service at this time. A spring burial is being planned for a later date.
