Frederick H. Smith II, obituary
UNITY — Frederick “Fred” Herbert Smith II, 45, died unexpectedly at home in Unity on February 19, 2020.
He was born March 31, 1974, to Frederick H. Smith Sr. and Terri Lee Bishop.
Fred was a jack of all trades, but especially enjoyed his time as a lobsterman in his early years. Most recently he had been attending the Bible Baptist Church in Unity and thought highly of his Pastor Nathan and the congregation.
He was a son, a father but most importantly he was a grandfather to one beautiful little girl who called him Bampa: Kailyn Nicole Lancaster, whom he adored.
Fred was predeceased by his grandfather, Herbert Smith, who raised him; his step-father, Martin “Farmer” James, whom he thought the world of; and his brother-in-law, Scott Littlefield.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Smith; and his four children, Tyler Cross and his significant other Bekah Hewins, Brooklin Smith and her significant other Craig Lancaster, Kamiryn Cross, and Frederick Smith III; an extremely special nephew who called him Dodo, Sylis Littlefield; and Luke “Woody” Johnson and Zachary Saucier, whom he always called his “Non-Sons.”
He is also survived by his father, Fred and wife Linda Smith; his mother, Terri James; his sister, Nicole James and her children, Brad-jo, Cole, and Emma; and sister, Nikki Gaudet and children Bill, Dayna and Dustin; a special brother-in-law, Leonard Harvey; and his best friend, Bill Curtis.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, February 29, at 2 p.m., at the VFW 34, Field Street in Belfast.
