Photography Club with Madeleine Morlet offered at Oceanside High School

Tue, 02/11/2020 - 2:45pm

RSU 13’s Oceanside High School is offering a Photography Club led by photographer Madeleine Morlet.

Through a 21st Century Learning Center grant, in partnership with One Community Many Voices, OHS Art Department, and RSU 13's Adult & Community Education’s Arts in Action program, the club will be offered for 10 weeks from January to June, ending with an exhibition of student work.

This opportunity is free and open to all Oceanside High School students. The club takes place on most Wednesdays from 2-5 p.m., with some opportunities for field trips and lab work.

This photography club will establish different ways of seeing, art as a means of discovery, and the transformative powers of storytelling. Led by Madeleine, students will find their artistic voice, and develop images that stand out, working towards an exhibition of their work for the Rockland Art Walk in June.

Madeleine Morlet is a photographer from London.

She studied Classics and English at King's College London and for almost a decade worked in video for companies such as Ridley Scott Associates, Vice, i-D and Somesuch. Madeleine is the Features Editor for Teeth Magazine, recently working with Billie Eilish, Cameron Boyce, and for HUF Worldwide.

She teaches photography at Maine Media Workshops and is based in Maine.

A free snack and bus transportation home at 5 p.m. is available for any RSU 13 student participating in after-school programs. To sign up for after school offerings, or for more information about after school offerings at Oceanside High School, contact Alanna Hernandez at ahernandez@rsu13.org
