BELFAST — Frances M. (Ellis) Merrithew, 90, of Belfast, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at her home.

She was born July 25, 1929 in Waterville, Maine, the daughter of the late Delbert and the late Myrtle (Johnston) Ellis. Frances graduated from Winslow High School and was a cook for many years for the Belfast school department. 

She met and married Scott Merrithew and they raised a son together. Frances enjoyed her flower gardens, sewing and quilting. She is remembered for always keeping busy.  

She is predeceased by her husband, Scott, and two siblings.

Frances is survived by her son, Gary Merrithew, of Belfast and wife Donna; sister, Marlene Chapman, of Benton; and two grandchildren, Ric and Ella Merrithew, of Belfast.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 30,  at 3 p.m., at The First Church in Belfast 8 Court Street Belfast.

Interment will be held privately in the spring.
