Wanda J. Bridges, obituary

ROCKLAND — Wanda J. Bridges, 64, died Thursday, October 17, 2019, at the Sussman House in Rockport, surrounded by her children, sisters and best friend, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Rockland, August 17, 1955, she was the daughter of Floyd B., Sr. and Waneta J. Nason Randall. She attended local schools.

Wanda developed a ‘hard work ethic’ during her youth as she raked blueberries and dug clams. For a while, she worked at National Sea Products.

After moving to Bangor, she completed studies and training as a Certified Nurses Assistant. After earning her CNA, she did private duty care as well as healthcare agency work. Returning to Rockland, she worked several years at the Camden Healthcare Center. After recuperating from a heart attack, she worked briefly at Shore Village Nursing Center in Rockland, from which she retired.

In her retirement, Wanda has been devoted to her children and grandchildren who were the ‘light-of-her-life.’

She enjoyed camping with her family, family gatherings, and going to dances, particularly those where Otto Proctor’s band was playing. She was a member of the Winslow-Holbrook-Merritt American Legion Post No.1,
Ladies Auxiliary.

Other than her parents, Wanda was predeceased by her husband, Clarence F. Bridges, Sr.; five brothers, Floyd Jr., Delmar, William, Jack and James Randall and one sister, Georgia Ripley.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Jessica Carver, Amanda and Craig Christianson, David and Amy Carver; her sisters, Priscilla Davis, Darlene Whiffen and her husband Jonathan; her brother, Tony Randall and his wife Michelle; her life-long friend, Darlene Proctor; 10 grandchildren, Dominic, Michaela, Matthew, Tayla, Makenzie, Korah, Scarlett, Noah, Dylan and Logan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Tuesday, October 22, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 23. Mr. Jake Barbour will officiate.

Private burial will be at a later date in Achorn Cemetery, Rockland.
