SEARSPORT — This summer, changes to the leadership structure at Searsport District Middle and High School will be taking place.

After a thorough evaluation, Regional School Unit 20 officials felt it was within the district’s best interests to split the combined dean of students and athletic director job into two separate positions, according to Superintendent Chris Downing.

Josh Toothaker, who had been fulfilling both positions’ duties, will now be the full-time dean of students working with both middle and high school students.

The athletic director role will be now be classified as a part-time position paid by a stipend.

Searsport sponsors teams in cross country, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and outdoor track and field.

Applications are currently being accepted for the athletic director opening.
