Wed, 07/03/2019 - 2:15pm

CAMDEN — The Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program, Lyman-Morse at Wayfarer and the Camden Yacht Club will host the 2019 U.S. Sailing Regional Junior Olympics July 17-18.

Over 150 sailors ages 10-18 from throughout New England will participate in the two-day regatta.

The regatta will be sailed in one-design boats including Optimists, 420s, Lasers, and RS Teras.

Launch areas will be at the Camden Yacht Club and Lyman Morse.

Among those providing support from safety boats will be the staff from the Camden Snowbowl Ski Patrol, highlighting the community support for the event.

“We are looking forward to hosting not just the Junior Olympics, but the sailors themselves” said Sue Conover, Director of CAYSP, in a news release. “This will be a wonderful opportunity for our local young sailors as each start line will offer two skill levels to meet varying needs. This supportive regatta is about learning, sailing with peers, meeting new friends and having fun”.

Event sponsors include Sperry, New England Ropes, Camden Coast Real Estate, and the Camden Real Estate Company.
