Ruby Burkeen Elwell passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 surrounded by her children.  Ruby was born on June 25, 1935 in Greenfield, Oklahoma.  She married Ed Elwell in 1955 and moved to Maine where she raised five children. 
 
Mom will always be remembered for her famous pies and homemade bread.  In addition to being a homemaker, she also worked at Waldo County General Hospital as housekeeper. She also helped Dad at Sears Catalog Store and later at Clark Real Estate.  
 
Ruby is survived by her son Curtis and his companion Monique, son Eddie and his wife Sally, daughter Kathy.  In addition to her children she is also survived by her sister Debbie Igo and her brother, J.M. Burkeen and special friends Avis, Earl and Terri.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. 
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Ola Mae Burkeen, her husband Ed, her daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law David.  
 
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm October 6, 2018 at Faith Temple Church, 189 Lincolnville Avenue, Belfast with Rev. Michael Horton officiating.  Burial will be in Brooks.
