Woman charged with allegedly pistol-whipping man, firing gun during altercation
UNION — A Union woman was arrested for allegedly firing a gun multiple times and pistol-whipping a man during an altercation in the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 9.
Nikalee Esposito, 32, was charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and violation of condition of release.
Esposito, who is represented by Attorney Eric Morse, of Rockland, made her initial appearance in Knox County court Oct. 11 before Judge John Martin. Her bail was set at $2,500 cash with the condition that if bail is posted, she will be under house arrest at her mother’s home. The conditions of the house arrest include that she wear an alcohol monitor, and only leave the home for legal and medical appointments and Sunday morning church services.
At the time of her arrest, she was on two sets of bail conditions that prohibited her from possessing a firearm, consuming alcohol, and committing any new criminal conduct.
According to the affidavit filed in court by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a domestic disturbance around 4 a.m. on Oct. 9 involving a firearm being discharged at a residence on Middle Road in Union. The male victim told police that when he had returned to the home, the woman was asleep on the first floor and it appeared that she had held a party.
He said that he had taken the woman’s cell phone and an altercation began when she wanted it back. The man had thrown the phone outside in the yard.
Esposito then allegedly retrieved a gun from upstairs and pointed it at the man and punched and pistol-whipped him multiple times. The victim said that he believed Esposito shot one round into the air outside and did not think she was firing at him, according to the police report.
She admitted to police that she fired the gun. Police located what they said appeared to be a small 9 mm shell casing the driveway.
Esposito will appear in court again Dec. 15 for a dispositional conference.
