THOMASTON — Walter A. Anderson, 85, died contentedly at his home where he was most comfortable, Sunday, December 22, 2019.

Born in Thomaston, May 3, 1934, he was the son of Albert R. and Marion Rokes Anderson. Educated in local schools, he attended Thomaston Academy, and having left school prior to graduating, completed his GED

For many years Walter worked driving trucks with Fox & Ginn and later as a maintenance engineer at the Rockland and Camden Post Offices.

Walter had a large collection of miniature trucks, tractors and cars. In his garage, Walter constructed large sliding door cases in which he displayed his collection. Collecting these miniature’s, was truly his ‘Hobby,’ as every trip he took, he would pick out a few more for himself and his grandkids. He loved to travel, watch NASCAR and war documentaries on the history channel.

Walter appreciated his neighbors Buddy and Luanne Hyler, Phyllis Wiggin, Tim Malmstrom, and his mailman, Joe Wyman.

Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by his wife, Sally, in 2015, his daughter Starla Hendron, and his brothers Arthur Anderson, Raymond Anderson and Norman Anderson.

He is survived by his two sons, Bradley T. Anderson of Searsmont, Matthew Anderson and his wife Jennifer of Hope; two daughters, April Burch and her husband Joe of Owls Head, Heidi DeCourcey of Cumberland, his step-daughter Michelle C. Young and her husband Scott of Tenants Harbor; his sister Kathleen Durand of Biddeford; ten grandchildren including, Garrett, Gavin, Aubrey, Amos, Hannah, Peter, Gentry, McCabe, Wyatt and Callie; two great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

And to sum-up all the afore mentioned information, one of Walt’s famous quotes, “Ok! I’ve got to let you go; the race is back on.”

A private service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, ME 04841.
