The Hills to Sea Trails Coalition is looking for individuals willing to steward a section of the Hills to Sea Trail. The trail passes through the towns of Belfast, Waldo, Knox, Montville, Freedom and Unity.

Completed in 2016, the trail is a footpath and crosses the land of more than 60 private landowners. Stewards check their trail sections four times a year between April and October, with the exact timing being up to each steward.

Stewards check on the trail’s condition and are expected to do light clearing and refreshing paint blazes.  Trail sections range in length from two miles to more than four miles. No experience is needed and training is provided.

The trail’s existence is dependent upon volunteers to keep this community resource open and in good hiking condition.

The Coalition is also looking for a volunteer to help manage the group’s website.
