Waldo County Bounty, Hey Sailor to hold fundraiser featuring The Sugar Snaps
SEARSPORT — Hey Sailor’s Starboard Lounge will host a dance party and concert featuring The Sugar Snaps to benefit Waldo County Bounty, a nonprofit committed to improving access to locally grown food in Waldo County.
On Saturday, April 5, The Sugar Snaps will lay down their R&B grooves from 7-8:30 p.m., at 27 E Main St. in Searsport. Tickets begin at $25, and all funds raised will go toward enhancing food security in Waldo County. Order your tickets online today.
The Sugar Snaps are a high-energy eight-piece R&B band featuring powerhouse vocals and a classic horn section. To complement the music, Hey Sailor! and the Starboard Lounge offer menus of locally sourced, globally influenced cuisine, including their beloved pozole, and a full bar with signature craft cocktails. Hey Sailor! will donate 10 percent of all food sales to WCB.
“This will be a super fun night to shake off the last days of winter and help more people access fresh fruits and veggies,” said Angela Baglione, Director of Waldo County Bounty, in a news release. “We are so grateful to The Sugar Snaps and Hey Sailor! for supporting our efforts to get more locally grown produce to families who struggle to put food on the table.”
Waldo County Bounty works to ensure that everyone has access to fresh, nutritious food by collaborating with local farmers, organizations, and community members towards an equitable food system. Among its core programming, the WCB Farm-to-Pantry program buys food from local farms, improving the economic resiliency of our farming community and its workers, and distributes it to food pantries and soup kitchens across Waldo County. The Veggies For All gleaning program brings together volunteers to harvest surplus crops for local hunger relief organizations, and the Give & Take program establishes sites in communities countywide where neighbors can exchange homegrown produce at no cost.
