WARREN (Feb. 17, 1:30 p.m.) — Charges are pending for a Bremen man who landed in the hospital after his pickup truck landed on a front lawn in Warren yesterday, Feb. 17, 2023.

The investigation continues into the circumstances leading up to a 2002 GMC Sierra, operated by Erik Moody, 32, landing on its passenger side against the side of a house, and also damaging the front bumper of a parked car in the driveway. However, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, deputies determined that the pickup truck had been traveling along Wotton’s Mill Road toward Eastern Avenue (Rte. 131). The operator failed to stop at a stop sign at the Wotton’s Mill/Eastern Ave intersection, and then could not stop in time to avoid leaving the roadway, crossing the lawn, and striking the house.

Moody was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center by Warren Ambulance. The house was left with excessive damage to its exterior.

WARREN (Feb. 16, 10 p.m.) — The driver of a pickup truck was taken to the hospital and a family is without a portion of a living room wall after the truck hit a house Thursday evening.

The house, 1406 Eastern Road, is near the intersection with Wottons Mill Road. Knox County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the circumstances that led to the pickup landing on its side against the far corner of the house and also hitting a parked car in the driveway.

No one in the house was injured.

Warren firefighters responded to the scene following a call to 911 just prior to 8 p.m. They immediately set to work extricating the vehicle’s sole occupant from the vehicle.

Camden Exxon removed the vehicle, first by dragging it on its side away from the house, then by pulling it back onto its wheels. Firefighters and volunteers then set to work sweeping away debris from the inside of the house before erecting stabilizing beams and nailing a tarp to the exposed areas.

Three other volunteers provided traffic control, allowing vehicles to pass along the westbound lane when Camden Exxon wasn’t in motion.

All Warren firefighters cleared from the scene at 9:35 p.m.
