Unity Ambulance Corps gains new ambulance, provides status during EMS Week

EMS Week - May 16 - 22, 2021
Fri, 05/21/2021 - 12:45pm

Unity Ambulance Corps (UAC) has been hard at work over the past year during the global pandemic to keep the people of Unity and the surrounding communities safe. The hard-working drivers, EMT’s and paramedics of UAC have continued to respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Utilizing best practice and guidance from the Maine CDC and Maine EMS Agency we help keep both our patients and our EMS professionals safe from this devastating virus that is affecting all the world. In 2021 alone, we have responded to 228 calls helping Mainers who suffered injuries or illnesses. In addition, the ambulance squad has happily provided community outreach in the form of standby coverage at several community events throughout the fall and winter seasons such as the snowmobile races on Unity Pond. Most importantly,

Unity Ambulance Corps was proud to be part of the state-wide effort to vaccinate first-responders including EMS personnel, 911 dispatchers, firefighters and law enforcement. UAC personnel successfully vaccinated over 120 first responders as well as elderly members of the community most at risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus.

Through our hard work and dedication, we help ensure first responders here in Waldo County will be able to safely respond to emergencies during this time of need. Finally, in other exciting news UAC has purchased a brand-new Type I 2020 Ford F550 4x4 state-of-the-art ambulance from Sugarloaf Ambulance Rescue in Wilton, ME. This ambulance will help ensure UAC can continue to provide quality and progressive patient care in all weather and road conditions throughout the year in Maine. We are thrilled and excited to continue to provide exceptional emergency response and patient care to all of Unity, the surrounding communities, and Mainers throughout Waldo County as your local ambulance service.
