THOMASTON — Emergency crews are turning traffic away from the vicinity of 126 Old County Road while Central Maine Power linesmen work to bring in a new utility pole.

Just prior to 3:25 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, Thomaston police, fire, and ambulance crews were alerted to a single-vehicle crash at that location. The car came to rest on the front lawn of 126 Old County after hitting a utility pole, snapping the pole in half, and bringing wires down closer to the road. 

The crash also took out the next-door-neighbor’s mailbox and its post. 

The sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for assessment.

Police and fire personnel have cleared the scene, as of 5:05 p.m. However, utility work continues, with CMP flaggers taking the place of fire department traffic controllers.
