Three people detained after multiple people shot with play guns in Camden
CAMDEN — After several complaints of pedestrians being shot with what was reported as a pellet gun from a passing motor vehicle in Camden, three young people have been detained. Though the victims had been hit, none complained of any injury.
Among the 911 calls, which began around 3:40 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, one complainant was able to provide a license plate to Camden PD, according to Sgt. Allen Weaver, allowing officers throughout an expanded region to begin searching for the vehicle.
The vehicle was subsequently found and stopped in Rockland, just after 4 p.m., by Knox County Sheriff's Deputy Juan Alcala. Rockland police officers went to the location of the stop and assisted Alcala until Camden’s Sgt. Weaver arrived.
The police determined that the items used in the shooting were Splatter Ball guns.
Camden Police arrested and charged Mark Defino, 20, and Mackenzie Schools, 19, with class D Assault. A juvenile male was also arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
Weaver then called each of the victims to tell them that the suspects had been detained.
“Camden Police would like to thank the Knox County Sheriff's Dept., Rockland PD, and Rockport PD with their assistance,” said Weaver.
