THOMASTON — Thomaston Grammar School held its annual Cookies with Santa event this past Saturday, Dec. 15.

One hundred and ten student shoppers did their Christmas shopping in the store in the gym at TGS. The Friends and Family of TGS group sponsored and ran this fun-filled, family event, according to a TGS news release.

Students were able to have their photo taken by Principal Riley in the photo area. All photos will be sent home to families as a keepsake of the event.

Students were then paired with a shopper to help them to shop for family members and friends without their parents/guardians seeing what they purchased, keeping everything a great surprise. The gifts were then wrapped for them so they could be taken home.

While students shopped, the adults who came with them were treated to coffee or cocoa and cookies in the cookie room, where they were also able to spend time talking with the other adults.

Students were able to have refreshments, too.

They could also leave letters for Santa in a magical mailbox.

In the release, the school said: “Thank you to the wonderful members of the Friends and Family of TGS group, staff members, parents, other relatives and friends, high school students, and others who volunteered to set up the night before or that morning, clean up, shop with students, wrap presents, make cookies, donate bows, shop for the items for the Christmas store, run the raffle table, sit at the welcome table, run the cookie room, and more.

“We couldn't have done it without the help of so many great Thomaston Grammar School community members.

“We also want to thank the Prison Showroom, Hampton Inn in Thomaston and Rock Harbor Hotel in Rockland for donating the raffle prizes. Sales of tickets for those prizes helped to fund this great event. What a great community we have!”
