BELFAST — Thomas P. Greene, 52, of Belfast, concluded his courageous battle with cancer on the morning of Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Not much is known of the origins of this man of God, except that he gave his heart to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by accepting His free gift of Salvation. After his mother, Miss Anne Allee of Belfast, passed away, he had no remaining blood relatives, so Tom considered the people of Calvary Chapel Belfast his family. He would eagerly serve the body of Christ, with tenacity, week after week, as long as he was physically able. It was very tough on him when his medical condition would not allow him to serve in the capacity that he desired.

He was a tender, loving, caring and compassionate person, always looking to help those in need, even if he had a greater need. We were blessed to have known him for all the years he attended Calvary Chapel Belfast and will sorely miss him and his spontaneous pontifications about God, the bible, sports, politics and anything else that was on his heart.

Tom did have a certain way with words. When he was with “the guys” for workout days, he became known as “TommyGun the wailing and flailing, rambling and scrambling, machine gun preacher man,” (based on the way he did more talking than working out sometimes). Tom would want everyone to know that he appreciates the sentiment, he acknowledges all the hard work and time everyone spent taking care of him throughout his extended illness and making him more comfortable in the hospital, all the thoughts and prayers were encouraging, everything everyone did was above and beyond, he would have loved to have stuck around a little bit longer, but, “it just wasn’t in the cards.”

In lieu of flowers, Tom would want you to consider simply filling a need. Look around you and find a way to make a difference to someone around you.

His celebration of life will be held at the new location of Calvary Chapel Belfast at 271 New England Road in Searsmont. The announcement of the specific day and time will be announced on the church website and Facebook page as soon as they are determined.

Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home Belfast, Maine.
