THOMASTON — The third annual Nathan Robertson Memorial family fun weekend will take place in Thomaston on Saturday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 11. 

Festivities will begin Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Thomaston Little League Field with a co-ed softball tournament at 8 a.m. sponsored by R&D Trash Removal. Cost to register a team is $200 and registration can be completed here. 

During the tournament, there will be a fast pitch contest for $1 per throw. The winners in the male, female and youth division will win $25. A home run contest will occur during the lunch break with one player from each team competing for a $100 cash prize. The winner of the softball tournament will win $500 and a nearly six-foot tall trophy. 

At noon, a pig roast from Hamming It Up Farm! will occur with $10 plates including pork, coleslaw, beans, rolls and more.

Concessions will be available all day Saturday, including fresh lobster rolls from 200 pounds of lobster donated by Travis Doughty. 

The festivities continue Sunday, Aug. 11 starting at the Thomaston Green for the third annual 5K race sponsored by On the Water Maine at 7 a.m. Overall male and female winners will receive a medal and $250 cash prize. Registration is $20 and can be completed by clicking here. 

A kids zone carnival presented by Sandcastle Entertainment will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes a 68 foot obstacle course, inflatable boxing ring, dunk tank, 10+ kids games, bounce houses, a Petting Zoo from Pony Xpress and race cars from Wiscasset Speedway. Additionally, there will be backyard games for children such as a sack race, three-legged race and more. Admission to the carnival is free and tickets for the bounce houses and games are only 25 cents. 

A cornhole tournament sponsored by WJR Carpentry and Painting starts at 10 a.m. The tournament will be double elimination with the winning team receiving $500 and a cornhole set. 

A chicken BBQ occurs at noon with $10 plates including chicken, corn on the cob, beans and more. 

A DJ will be on site all day long.
