Swanville woman to serve 75 days in jail for stabbing roommate
BELFAST — A Swanville woman convicted of stabbing a male roommate in the buttocks was sentenced in Waldo County Criminal Court April 25.
Michelle L. Sheafer, 26, was convicted of aggravated assault and sentenced to 42 months in prison, with all but 75 days suspended. She will also spend three years on probation post release as a result of the March 5 attack.
Sheafer reportedly used a small kitchen knife in the attack, leaving the victim in need of medical attention, according to court documents.
When Belfast Police attempted to place Sheafer under arrest, she reportedly became physically combative, biting Sergeant Daniel Fitzpatrick’s hand during the scuffle. As a result, Sheafer was also charged with assault on an officer and refusing to submit to arrest or detention (with the use of physical force).
While the charge of assault on an officer was dropped, Sheafer was convicted of refusing to submit to arrest or detention and sentenced to 30 days in jail.
