Summer Theatre Camp registration is open at The Waldo

Thu, 05/19/2022 - 8:45pm

The Waldo Theatre, 916 Main St., Waldoboro, is offering a two-week theatre camp for rising 4th - 8th grade students July 11 - July 22 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Campers will explore the arts of acting and singing as they work together to bring original characters and stories to life. With fun games, music, and simple scenes, campers will develop their performer's tools of body, voice, mind, and imagination.

The camp will be led by The Waldo’s theatre artist, Mia Branco, who is currently leading an in-school theatre education program in the RSU40 school district. She’ll be joined by Waldoboro music artist and instructor at Midcoast Music Academy, Joe Cough. Together they bring many years of teaching and curriculum development experience to the camp, and will guide students through story and song creation of their own. There will be an end-of-camp presentation Friday, July 22, with a second matinee performance planned for July 23.

Following current (May) CDC guidelines, The Waldo is recommending all visitors to the theater wear masks. Camp staff will consult guidelines in July and share updates with campers’ families.

Tuition for the two-week camp is $500. Partial scholarships are available, funded in part by The Cheney Financial Group. For registration and scholarship application forms, visit https://waldotheatre.org/pages/education or email info@thewaldotheatre.org.
